BMW 3 Series Trim Levels

Let's begin with the base, but hardly basic, trim level: the 330i. What sets this trim apart from the others primarily exists underneath the hood. This version of the 3 Series sedan sports a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbocharged inline four-cylinder (I4) engine that kicks up 294 pound-feet of torque. Despite being the most mild-mannered of the BMW 3 Series, you will find the speed capabilities of this sedan go well beyond those of the average. The 330i model also comes standard with all previously-mentioned amenities and conveniences. Additional standard features include the Live Cockpit plus with iDrive 6.0 infotainment system.

330i xDrive

The biggest difference between this trim and the 330i before it comes in the form of its drivetrain. With its engine, the 330i xDrive incorporates xDrive all-wheel drive. This adaptable drivetrain helps to keep an even amount of traction flowing between all four wheels to maximize handling and control, no matter how aggressive the streets in Harrisburg may get. The standard eight-speed automatic transmission of this, and the 330i trim, offers different drive modes, with Sport and Manual Shift modes and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

If you want the absolute most speed and performance, then you want to try the M340i version of the 2020 BMW 3 Series sedan. Underneath the hood of this sedan, you will find a special 3.0-liter, M Performance TwinPower Turbo BMW engine, kicking up 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This engine returns to the segment after a bit of a recent furlough, bringing more speed to the experienced motorists who love the BMW brand. With its engine and manual shift mode, the M340i can jump from zero to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.

M340i xDrive

As with the previous edition of this sedan, the M340i xDrive boosts acceleration and handling exactly were you may want them to go, with xDrive all-wheel-drive performance. This version of the 3 Series also features Brake Energy Regenerating and an M Sport Differential, to help you maintain a drive as you like it, no matter where you go. The sport automatic transmission features Driving Dynamics Control with drive settings including "ECO PRO," "COMFORT," "SPORT," and "SPORT+."

The 330e takes a different approach to power as the hybrid version of the BMW 3 Series. What the 330e lacks in speed, it more than makes up for with fuel economy. This hybrid sedan features a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo I4 engine that comes paired with a 107-horsepower eDrive electric motor. In total, the system generates 288 horsepower and works to charge a lithium-ion battery pack generating about 12 kilowatts per hour (kWh). The Driving Dynamics Control dial of this transmission features driving models such as "ADAPTIVE," "SPORT," "HYBRID," and "ELECTRIC" modes, so you can jump between powertrains to save the most fuel as you can.

330e xDrive

With the 330e xDrive, you enjoy the most performance and the most control, with the all-wheel-drive configuration. The interior of these 330e sedans features new Fine wood interior trim with Ash Grey-Brown high gloss accents.
